Sustainable, Durable & UV Resistant Signage

Sustainable, low-maintenance “Wood” signage with exceptional weathering and UV resistance

fake wood signs

We work with amazing materials to create some beautiful looking signs. Particular this project for a holiday park in Wales where we used Milboard to produce signage with the appearance of natural wood. We were asked by Plassey Holiday Park to produce signage using Millboard cladding that matched existing Millboard decking. This beautiful composite material is hand crafted and moulded from real oak timber, which gives a stunning look and feel of real wood. Using Millboard cladding, we were able to give our client sustainable and easy maintenance signage with the natural look of oak.

The advantages of using Millboard on signs are many, and include the following:

  • Resistant to UV and weathering
  • Lighter than wooden sign panels
  • No annual timber maintenance required on the signs
  • Millboard doesn’t rot or warp
  • Made from sustainable and recycled polymers
  • Does not deteriorate like natural wood
  • Looks and feels like wooden signage
  • Resistant to algae

Combining the Natural Beauty of Wood with Strength and Durability

wood signage

Millboard does not deteriorate like wood, the graphics added to the sign also last longer. The Millboard has excellent UV and weather resistance and therefore doesn’t warp and move like wooden signage. The graphics and aluminium tray signs added to the sign structure are there until they need to be edited or updated as the main structure of the sign remains stable over tens of years.

Realistic timber signage

The wood grain is so realistic because the Millboard is moulded from real oak timbers. These are specially selected to give a more organic look to the grain. Colours are blended to enhance the look, giving depth and quality to the sign panels.

Colour Matching Powder Coated Signage

Because Millboard is a very stable material, we were able to add the graphics with tray signs powder coated to brand colours. This was done by powder coaters by blending RAL colours to match to the Pantone reference. This enabled all the signage to match to painted and printed signage in the future.

Our AGFA workflow software enables us to print both large and standard format print products to brand. Matching the best our printing presses have to offer with 6 colour colour process, for future signs.
