Johnsons design and manufacture interpretation boards and other wooden signage to compliment the environment they reside. Interpretation boards and information signs need to have a practical yet sympathetic design to their surroundings.
Wooden Interpretation Boards
We manufacture all our interpretation signage from high quality timber, supplied by Cheshire timber merchants NRT. This includes Oak and Larch, as well as more stable hard wood alternatives such as Sapele and Idigbo.
More cost effective boards can be produced with redwood alternatives, and these can last the test of time with annual maintenance. However the hardwoods do offer fantastic durability and may not need any wood treatment for six or seven years.

The interpretation sign pictured above was a simple design made to be a practical information board for all ages and wheelchair accessible. We printed the information directly onto the aluminium composite board. (We do not print on to vinyl and then add it to the sign as this has a shorter lifespan). By printing directly to the panel and then laminating with anti-graffiti laminate ensures we provide a very durable interpretation sign.
Survey and Installation
We can also install your interpretation signs and are always available to discuss and survey the areas you are thinking of adding signage. Your account manager will visit your site and survey risk and accessibility before presenting you with a report and Risk Assessment if required.
