How Contra Vision Window Perf helped Transform Our Windows for Christmas

At Johnson’s Printers, we believe in practicing what we preach. With the festive season just around the corner, we saw an opportunity to showcase our expertise in printing and design by creating an unforgettable holiday display for our Nantwich town centre location. Located on a busy main road, our print shop sees a high volume of both foot and vehicle traffic, so catching the eye of passersby was crucial.

We set out with a bold vision: to completely cover our shop windows with seasonal graphics that would make a statement. But we also had a couple of key requirements to address. Our employees rely on natural light inside the shop to maintain a comfortable working environment and to ensure accurate color matching for our print projects. We needed a solution that wouldn’t compromise this.
We also needed a product that would be durable. Being on a main road in the heart of town means our windows are exposed to the elements. Rain, dirt and snowy slush could easily dull the impact of our graphics. So, we required a material that could withstand the weather and be easy to clean.
After careful consideration, we chose Contra Vision® Campaign White on Black Perforated Window Film with 30% transparency which was sourced directly from Contra Vision. This product struck the perfect balance: bold, vibrant graphics on the outside and excellent see-through visibility from the inside.
To enhance the durability of the graphics, we applied Contra Vision® Overlaminate. This not only gave the installation a polished finish but also ensured the graphics could be cleaned easily without compromising their integrity—a must for our busy location during the winter months.

This project was a true team effort, and everything was done in-house at Johnson’s Printers. From conceptualization to installation, our talented team managed every step of the process.
The design featured iconic Nantwich landmarks by local artist Sue Everett—such as St Marys Church, the bookshop, Nantwich Museum, and beloved local pubs—bringing a sense of community spirit to our display. Once the designs were finalized, we printed them at our Crewe facility, allowed the graphics to outgas, and then applied the laminate before the big installation day.
On the day of installation, despite chilly temperatures, the graphics went up smoothly. The vibrant imagery immediately caught the attention of locals, with many stopping to admire our work. Even before the installation was complete, it was already creating a stir amongst the locals.
The finished display not only brought festive cheer to Nantwich but also highlighted the capabilities of our team at Johnson’s Printers. Thanks to the high-quality materials provided by Contra Vision, the graphics maintained their striking appearance throughout the season and stood up beautifully to the challenges of the winter weather. And when the time comes to take them down, we’ll be able to remove them cleanly and quickly without any residue left behind.

This project wasn’t just about holiday decorations; it was a way to demonstrate the potential of expertly designed and installed window graphics. For businesses like ours, windows are more than just glass—they’re a canvas for creativity and an opportunity to connect with the community.
